In training, how did you like operating with other surgeons (attendings, residents / fellows)? How does it compare with just having a non-surgeon FA?

Do you enjoy 'marathon cases'? How do you prepare yourself prior-to and during a marathon case to maintain focus and stamina? Do you find yourself more irritable (as I have found as an FA) as the case gets into the latter hours?

How does private practice surgery compare to academic surgery? What aspects of academic surgery do you miss and would you ever consider a part-time faculty role in addition to maintaining your practice?
